ATII Dark webathon Experience
In May 2022 I had an incredible opportunity to particiapte in the Darwebathon organized by ATII (Anti-Human Trafficking Intelligence Initiative). The event was moderated and mentored by none other than Larry Cameroon who's the best in the business and also happens to be the Chief Information Security Officer with ATII and Adam Maxwell who is their Director of Engineering. During this two-day event we were introduced to OSINT (Open-source Intelligence) tools like Malego, Ciphertrace, Hunchly. If you're starting fresh in this space then to know more about OSINT click here.
As a novice I was able to understand a lot on the Hash and cryptocurrency and email OSINT challenges and problems we face today. The blockchain and crypto forensic world has immense use cases and opportunities if one is aware of tools that are being built up by professionals in the field. As an OSINT expert one can really hone up their skills and serve for the betterment of the society and also help fight the perpetrators and bad elements of the society that use technology for illegal purposes which includes but is not limited to hacks, thefts, child and sex trafficking, smuggling, pornography and what not. I also thought at the current state we are just scratching the surface of the dark web and there is immense amount of opportunities to learn.
I would recommend any of my connections who are looking to deep dive into this incredibly intresting field to start with the ATII Dark webathon which shows you the way and their mentoring and training provided is excellent. You might reach out and connect with Larry on LinkedIn here and with Adam Maxwell here
Cheers and hope this was helpful! Until next time.
